ACUD Gallery
The initiative ACUD MACHT NEU operates three spaces at Kunsthaus ACUD: the Club, Studio and Gallery. The aim is to offer room for discourse, exchange and experimental artistic formats. The program is developed by a team of creatives, curators, filmmakers and authors. Fundamentally, the programming is open to submissions. The criteria is their quality and relevance.
Founded in 2024, our Verein emerges from the long-standing cultural work of ACUD MACHT NEU in Berlin. After years of creating space for experimental art, music, and dialogue, we established the association to secure a sustainable, community-driven future for this ecosystem.
Kunsthaus ACUD is one of the last independent art houses in Berlin. It was founded in 1991 by a group of artists in a vacant apartment building at Weinbergspark in Berlin-Mitte. In 2014 ACUD MACHT NEU was able to save the house from forced auction. Since then, together with the long-standing operators of the ACUD theatre and cinema, it has filled the house with a dense program of concerts, readings, exhibitions, performances, talks, screenings and performances.
ACUD is a counter-model to increasing social and cultural segregation and exclusion, which follows the asserted pressures of an economic ideology of displacement and exploitation. In the background is always the question of possible new forms of community and cohesion in times of social dissolution and increasing individualization, and what role urban places such as Kunsthaus ACUD can play in this.
